Desert Landscapes
There are many deserts in Australia, there is the Simpson Desert, the Great Victorian Desert, the Great Sandy Desert, the Tanami Desert, the Gibson Desert, the Little Sandy Desert, the Strzelecki Desert, the Sturt Stony Desert, Tirari Desert and the Pedirka Desert. In the desert there are heaps of objects and life that make it up so it looks, feels and sounds like a desert. There are all the animals and plants without these nothing would survive in the desert. There are the sand dunes, which is where all of the dirt either builds up or erodes away. There is the dirt/ sand, without that it wouldn't even be there. The rain is another thing that helps the desert even though in most deserts it doesn't occur very often.
Sand Dunes- Sand dunes are in most of Australia's Deserts. A dune is usually a hill of sand which is caused by eorlian processes (Winds activity.) Sometimes it may look like it is rock but that is just the way the dune has eroded away. Sometimes sand dunes may be hard and other time they may be soft. If there is loose sand on and around the sand dune it will be soft. The next time a sand storm occurs most of the sand will probably get moved by the wind. If the sand dune looks like a big rock it is probably going to be hard. There are 5 different types of dunes: there is the linear dune, the dome dune, the star dune, the parabolic dune and the crescentic
Bare Rock Surfaces- most deserts will have bare rock surfaces. A bare rock surface occurs when water and wind and sand mix and hit the rock at high speed it takes a layer off. Gradually the rock surfaces will get smaller and smaller. Until new rock surfaces start to build up again and the process repeats itself again.
Animals and Plants- In all deserts not just Australia there are plants and animals. That are part of what make a desert a desert. They make a bit more colorful and lively. The plants provide protection objects, they also provide water and food. The animals move things around and eat plants and animals.b Which helps them survive it also helps the plants to provide more food.
